Introduction

This application provides access to the Teignbridge District Council Planning Register for planning applications and appeals from 1977 to the present. It should be noted that part of the district is within Dartmoor National Park which is itself a planning authority. As such, applications and appeals that fall within DNP will not appear on this site but can be found on the DNP planning site.
We try to ensure that all the information on this site is as accurate and as up to date as possible but should you find any errors please let us know via the 'Rate this Service' option at the bottom of each page.

Search Page

Address Search
Type in a portion of the address or the postcode in to the text box over the grey 'Type the address/postcode here' text. If nothing is found a red message will be displayed saying 'No matches found'. Try again.
When you do find some addresses, they will be displayed on the next page 'Search Results'. The number of address found will be shown in the 'Address Search' black bar. The addresses are all hyper linked, so click on one to move to the next page.

Reference Number Search
Type in all or a portion of the application/appeal reference in to the text box over the grey 'Type the reference number here' text. If nothing is found a red message will be displayed saying 'No matches found'. Try again.
Having found some references, they will be displayed on the next page 'Search Results'. The number of appeals and application found will be shown in the 'Reference Search' black bar. The References are all hyper linked, so click on one to move to the next page. Address and a description of the case are also displayed.

Map Search
Click the Search button to move to the Map page. This page contains an address/postcode locator to make navigation of the map easier. There are two layers for current and decided planning applications and appeals. Decided applications and appeals are only visible at a zoomed in detailed scale.

Advanced Search
The Advanced search section is divided in to six parts:
•     Proposal
•     Application Type
•     Parish
•     Status
•     Valid Dates
•     Decision Dates
One or all of these criteria can be used to perform a search. Although, the more information you add, the more specific the search but this also leads to a greater chance of not returning anything.
Proposal - This is the description of the appeal or application case. Type in any part of the proposal. This is a fuzzy search, so it might be all you need to type in to find what you are looking for.
Application Type - A dropdown list of application types.
Parish - A dropdown list of parish locations within Teignbridge.
Status - You have three options here: All, Decided and Current.
     •      Decided cases are applications and appeals that have had a decision made on them.
     •      Current cases are applications and appeals that have not been decided yet.
Valid Dates - Looks for application and appeals received within a specified period.
Decision Dates - Looks for decisions made within a time period.
     •      To use the calendars, either type the date in to the text box in the format 31/12/2012.

     •      To change the calendar view to months, click on the blue 'December, 2012' in the first image below.

            To change the calendar view to years, click on the blue '2012' in the middle image below.

            To get today's date, click on the 'Today:December, 2012' at the bottom of the calendar.

           


Address Search - Map Toolbar Buttons

  Zoom In Click this tool and then click on the map screen to zoom into the map. You can drag a box on the map screen with this tool by holding down the left mouse button. The map will then zoom to the extents of the box.


  Zoom Out Click this tool and then click on the map screen to zoom out.


  Pan You can use this tool to move the map around.


  Home Use this tool to center the map on the address you searched on.


  Area Search Use this tool to draw a shape around any part of the map where you want to find any planning cases. To use this tool:

      • Click on the map at least three times to create a shape.
        

      • Try not to cause the shape to cross over itself when finished as this will cause an error.
        

      • If you do go wrong, right-mouse-click to go back one node of the shape.

      • Double click to end the shape.

      • You can not delete the shape. Just draw another one if you want to start again.
        

      • The right hand side panel will now populate with any planning applications and appeals found.

      • The number of applications returned using this method is limited to 50. If you receive an error message please search using a smaller search area.

      • To try and keep the number of cases to a usable amount, the Area Search button will be come disabled if you zoom out too far.
        


Map Page



Map Controls
 
Navigation Tools  
  Scroll around the map using the pointers of the navigation tool.
      Zoom in and out of the map.
      Zoom in and out of the map using the mouse's wheel.
  Clicking on the map will trigger an identify action of the layers below the mouse icon. This action will move you on to the Results page where the application/appeal's details are viewed.
Key
   
The are two layer on the map, Current and Decided Applications and Appeals.
Current Applications and Appeals are always visible but the Decided layer only becomes visible when you zoom in to the map.
Address/Postcode Search
 
Type in the a part of the address or the postcode and hit the Search button. If nothing was found then you will be informed with a message.
 
 
If there are addresses, a panel will appear below the Address panel. Select the required address and the map will zoom to that location.
Identify Tool (Mouse Click)
Click on the required application or appeal on the map and the references from the search will appear in the Results panel.
The Results panel list isa set of links taking you to the Results page where the details of the application/appeal can be viewed.


Associated Documents

All planning applications from 1995 onwards have been scanned and the documents are available to view online. A few pre 1995 planning applications have also been scanned. The associated documents button will be greyed out if there are no scanned documents. Most documents prior to 1995 are held on microfiche and can be viewed at the council offices. Please telephone 01626 215734/215743 to arrange to view microfiches giving 24 hours notice.
If a particular file has not been scanned you will receive the message 'Your search returned no results'.


Make a comment

Comments, both in support or objection, can be made via this form and will be considered along with all other material planning issues when deciding the application.
Under legislation we are required to allow 21 days for submission of comments following publicity of the application either by site notice, neighbour letter or newspaper advert.
Once the overall date for expiry of publicity (the latest of any of these periods) has ended then the application may be decided, but you are still free to comment during this time although you run the risk that the decision may be made before your comment is received.
If the 'Make a comment' button is greyed out there is no longer an opportunity to comment.
